It is an essential component of the Dzogchen tradition for both the Bonpo and the Nyingmapa. Sam van Schaik states that ''gzhi'' is to be distinguished from ''kun gzhi''. In the Seminal Heart series a distinction is made between ''kun gzhi'', c.q.
